Man. If only I had direct access to a designer that I know and love who could tell me what’s hot this season without always trying to push their line down my throat.

Oh wait. It’s possible!!

(Mom Trends, me, Jane Wagman, Liz Lange)

Liz Lange and her sister Jane Wagman just launched ‘Shopafrolic‘, a website dedicated to sharing their passion for clothing, accessories and beauty products. Each day the sisters post their absolute must have picks for their fans to check out. Sometimes they agree with one another and sometimes the claws come out. How fun is that!

This isn’t some secret affiliate marketing ploy either. It’s literally all about loving fashion and wanting to connect with their fans.

I had the chance to interview Liz and Jane while attending a Martha Stewart taping (see video here) and the girls say they constantly get asked for fashion advice while running their daily errands. It’s obviously impossible to reach EVERY woman who has a question and that’s why ‘Shopafrolic’ was born.

The site is for every woman. It covers highs and lows and shows you how to combine the two.

There’s even a Fashion Tip section that they constantly update. Here are a few of their suggestions:

  • wear all your purchases immediately, what are you waiting for?
  • treat each item as if it is seasonless
  • ignore in and out lists

Check out the site and let me know what you think!

Jessica Alba Shops For Sweet Bling

Posted by Vera On March - 11 - 2010

Jessica Alba sashayed into Kisan Concept Store in Soho with some girlfriends for some much needed retail therapy (125 Greene Street, NYC). The Valentine’s Day star browsed with her gal pals for an hour and picked up two Servane Gaxotte necklaces (sold exclusively at Kisan).

She fell in love with the collection which features a fairyland theme evoked through the poetic mixing and matching of deer, cats, rabbits and mice. Tenderness, humor and whimsy are the cornerstones of this collection. These necklaces retail for $365.

What do you think about the style?

Earlier in the week, I was invited to attend an event hosted by Molly Ringwald and Ragu. The pair have teamed up to promote the ‘Recipe for a Good Start’ contest — a nationwide search for moms and their recipe for giving their kids a good start in life. The winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship for his/her child!! If that isn’t a reason to enter, I don’t know what would be.

During the event, several mommy bloggers got to hear Molly talk about why she decided to join Ragu for this initative.

“I might be known for my roles in movies and on TV, but my most important role is being a mom. I am so proud to partner with Ragu to recognize all the special things that parents do to give their kids a good start — like helping them with their homework, encouraging them to play outside and making sure their kids eat their veggies.

Thanks to Ragu, my family gets a delicious, nutritious meal and I get extra time to do the things I know will give my children a good start — like finger painting and family reading time.”

After her presentation, we got to make lasagna using no boil noodles (I LOVE THOSE) and Ragu sauce. Here’s the recipe.

Then naturally we were able to sit down and taste our creation. Leading the conversation around the dinner table was Food Network chef Marcela Valladolid. Her show, which films in San Diego, revolves around Mexican cuisine and has been picked up for a second season. Congrats to Marcela!

Are you looking for a few easy to make recipes using Ragu sauce? No problem! They have an entire section dedicated to sharing tips on their website. Click here to check it out.

Salma Hayek attended Nickelodeon’s launch of Dora The Explorer’s 10th anniversary with the ‘Beyond The Backpack‘ Campaign held at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, California. The campaign will serve as the key component of Nickelodeon’s overall plans for Dora the Explorer’s anniversary, and will consist of

  • a PSA campaign featuring Salma Hayek Pinault and Dora herself
  • a fundraising auction of limited-edition Dora backpacks, with designs by Hayek Pinault and other celebrities
  • financial grants
  • a dedicated web site with downloadable toolkits for parents and educators
  • local community activities across the country

“Beyond the Backpack” is designed to call attention to the emotional, physical, experiential and actual competencies that preschoolers need for those first, crucial steps into school, including: social skills and emotional intelligence; early literacy and math skills; in-school involvement and resources like school supplies; and health and wellness basics.
